Primary Technologies:
Automation and containerisation of SOA Platform Integration applications and services.
The Senior Technical Engineering Expert (STE) uses their in-depth knowledge of specific ICT platforms to provide expert advice on the management and maintenance of those platforms.

They will be required to work closely with key third party suppliers to ensure the provision of a robust infrastructure capability to the business, and liaise with architecture and shared services areas to ensure the security of the day-to-day technical operations ICT Technical Engineering describes the STE function which manages and maintains specific ICT platforms, including technical landscape design, installation, configuration, deployment, technical security and operation of ICT components and databases.

Key Tasks/Duties:
May include, (but not limited to):

  • Responsible for delivery of an optimal strategic system landscape.
  • Oversee the design, installation and operation of the ICT system instance landscape, client and transport processes
  • Provide broad technical support for project build, test and solution deployment activities - liaise with the infrastructure team in the design, procurement and deployment of hardware and related assets
  • Oversee the regular maintenance of patches and support packages for all technical layers - develop staff capability through coaching, mentoring and succession planning
  • Set direction by contributing and aligning to local business plans and ICT strategies • Drive innovation, continuous improvement and manage and lead change
  • Proactively share knowledge and expertise as the subject matter expert, and provide assistance and mentorship to less experienced colleagues
  • Negotiate, engage and manage relationships with other agencies and service providers to build service delivery capability
  • Collaborate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve project outcomes
  • Attend interagency meetings and forums to influence business outcomes and share information
  • Oversee and prepare a range of technical documentation and reports
  • Resolve sensitive and/or escalated customer and stakeholder issues that adversely impact on policy, performance and/or customer service, including disaster/emergency situations
  • Exercise delegation in accordance with legislation and guidelines.

Essential Criteria

  1. Software Engineering Degree or Diploma.
  2. Minimum of 3 years' experience working with integration technologies (REST APIs/Web Services/File Transfer)
  3. Experience working with system administration and automation technologies (DevOps techniques, CI/CD scripts, Python/Bash scripting, Linux server fundamentals)

Desirable Criteria

  1. A high level of demonstrated experience in integration technologies and protocols, such as REST, GraphQL, SFTP.
  2. Demonstrated experience with at least two of the following systems - IBM DataPower/API Connect, IBM Sterling, Python/JavaEE, Automation and DEVOPS - and their use in a complex ICT environment.
  3. Demonstrated experience in a service-oriented environments, including design and operational support.
  4. A high degree of organisational and time management skills, including demonstrated ability to meet priorities and work to tight deadlines.
